The Oura Ring is one of the best smart rings on the market. It tracks sleep, heart rate, activities, and blood oxygen and gives you an idea of your overall recovery. Oura Ring does it all. But can you bring it near or into the water?
The direct answer is yes! Oura Ring is water-resistant up to 100 meters or about 328 feet, which means you can swim with it. Since it’s water-resistant, you can also shower with it and do recreational diving like snorkeling and freediving. You can also wear your ring in the hot tubs, sauna, ice baths, and cryotherapy tanks without worries.

But what does this water resistance mean? Has it been proven to work underwater? Yes, Oura Ring has been tested and is certified to Ingress Protection (IP) standards. It has an IPX8 rating, which means the ring can be used up to 100 meters. But it doesn’t mean you should wear it 100 meters down the sea as it might not be able to withstand the pressure.

Oura Ring Operating Temperature
The Oura Ring operating temperature ranges from -10–52°C or 14–125°F. So again, if you’re worried about jumping into the hot tub, sauna, ice bath, and cryotherapy tank, don’t be! A caveat though—you cannot stay for too long with your ring below 0°C or 32°F or above 35°C or 95°F) as extreme temperatures might damage the battery.
Oura Ring Limitations
If I can bring my Oura Ring to the water, is there something it cannot do? Of course! Oura does not recommend wearing the smart ring when scuba diving. The water pressure underwater has not been tested for Oura and it might not be able to withstand if you wish to bring it. In addition, keeping the smart ring submerged underwater for over 12 hours is discouraged.
