A Garmin smart ring could be in the pipeline and will soon be available, according to reports. Although we have not heard from Garmin as of yet regarding the release of a new line of wearables on top of its popular smartwatches and fitness trackers, it is most likely that the health tech maker has been gearing up for the release of its smart ring.
According to reports, a Garmin smart ring might have a constellation of sensors for monitoring sleep, activities, heart rate, body temperature, and more. Stress and recovery monitoring could also be a huge part of this new smart ring, which is pretty much what smart rings on the market can do, so it’s not a surprise that Garmin will follow suit. Industry leaders like the Oura Ring, Ultrahuman Ring Air, and Ringconn have almost the same set of functionalities and sensors, but the execution and insights have been different. It’s safe to say that Garmin may have the same features as the smart ring market leaders.

If Garmin releases smart rings, fitness enthusiasts will have a device that compliments smartwatches well. Smart rings are better than smartwatches in some aspects, especially when it comes to accuracy and focus, so it only makes sense for the company to make sure users have options to augment their health data through the smart ring.
Some believe Garmin might not be treading the smart ring market stating that it’s too niche. But this statement could be a bit of a stretch as the company ventured into sports watches years ago when it was considered a niche but health-tracking smartwatches have now become the standard for general use.

With tech giants like Samsung and Amazfit already announcing their upcoming smart rings, it’s hard to believe that Garmin—a leader in health technology—has nothing in the works. Word may have been scarce for now, but I strongly believe that Garmin is gearing up to rival the Oura Ring.
