As a tiny wearable device, you can expect smart rings to have fairly limited capabilities. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Despite its form factor, smart rings have a ton of functionalities that can match smartwatches. One of them is receiving notifications.
Although the ability to receive notifications is not a popular feature of smart rings, there are models that do have notifications. How do these smart rings receive notifications? There are two mechanisms that work with smart rings.
First, the obvious way would be through a display. Yes, there are smart rings that have a screen display fitted into the tiny body. By connecting your smart ring to your phone mainly through Bluetooth, alerts for SMS, calls, and apps can be forwarded to the smart ring. Of course, the view is limited given the smart ring’s form factor.

Second, some smart rings have haptic feedback to let you know that something is up, whether it’s an alarm, a call, or a message.
If you are wondering if the popular smart rings like the Ultrahuman Ring Air, Oura Ring, and Mclear RingPay 2 have notifications, unfortunately, they don’t. But as mentioned, some do have notifications, including the Circular Ring.
The rumored Apple smart ring is reportedly getting haptic feedback based on patents that have been made public. We are not sure about the rumored Samsung Galaxy Ring if it would include a vibration mechanism too.
